Tactical Readiness
Evaluation Debrief System (TREDS)
It is a belief at MIKEL that the best technological systems do not always provide improved performance unless the end user is well trained and knows how to use them. We believe that there are three main ways to improve overall mission effectiveness, namely by improving systems, tactics or training. The usual focus is to improve the technological capability of the systems and devise improved tactics to use those systems. However, more effective training can lead to the biggest improvement in performance and can often be overlooked. Our approach to the performance improvement issue is to build evaluation systems for submarine attack center trainers that compare the tactical solutions being generated by the operators to the ground truth or "god's eye view of the world". The Training Readiness Evaluation Debrief System (TREDS) electronically takes the operator solutions being generated within the combat system and compares them to the ground truth data from the training simulators to provide feedback necessary to reinforce and improve performance. This concept is also being developed for at sea exercises conducted on an instrumented tracking range as depicted in the following figure.
Tactical Analysis Toolbox (TAT)
Tactical Analysis Toolbox (TAT) Download For the experienced tactical analyst we have accumulated a collection of automatic analysis tools to make the operational analysis process more effective and accurate. Our Tactical Analysis Toolbox (TAT) provides assessment and evaluation tools that allow the analyst to examine USW system performance in terms of sonar, combat system, and weapon and platform (surface ship, maritime patrol aircraft, and submarine) effectiveness.
