MIKEL Training Solutions

MIKEL believes that a well trained sailor is every bit as important as a capable combat system. And that a well trained sailor is a result of lots of practice, and lots of feedback. MIKEL has developed a family of products that automatically measure crew performance as sailors participate in training events at shore based trainers and at sea. These products are the result of decades of experience gained working directly for the Submarine Force’s Deputy Commanders of Readiness and Training, operating Submarine Force Training Facilities and deploying with submarines to the Western Pacific and Arabian Gulf.

Tactical Readiness Evaluation Debrief System (TREDS)

TREDS is a real time analysis and post event debrief system used in legacy (SMMTT2) submarine attack centers. It is interfaced to SMMTT2 to obtain ground truth for all simulated platforms and to the AN/BYG-1 or AN/BSY-1 combat systems to obtain tactical data. This data is then displayed in real time showing a comparison of the two data sets in the form a various fleet approved metrics. Real time displays include a geographic plot, and a relative motion plot (PPI) showing all contacts relative to ownship overlaid with ground truth tracks, a contact evaluation plot showing the sonar tracker data overlaid with ground truth sonar tracks for user selected propagation paths. Also available to the instructors and crews are various other plots and metrics such as periscope observation accuracies, time history of TMA solutions versus ground truth tracks. Replay controls are also provided for post event debrief.
