Systems Engineer V


Education:  BSEE or similar degree

Experience:  15+ years’ experience working submarine Non-Propulsion Electronics System (NPES) as described below:

  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) level knowledge of the OHIO (both SSBN and SSGN) Class systems engineering and alteration process as documented in the OHIO Class Modification Standard Operation Procedures (MODSOP).
  • Understanding and application of NPES system documents such as Combat Control System (CCS) Functional & Allocated Requirements Specification, Ship Systems Manual (SSM) V2P1, etc.
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles
  • Excellent communications skills


Job Description:  The job requires an innovative and self-starting Senior Systems Engineer to evaluate proposed modifications (source of modifications include the Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical System (SWFTS) Baseline Change Request (BCR) process and the Participating Acquisition Resource Manager (PARM) Change Proposal/Engineering Change (CP/EC)) to the SSBN and SSGN NPES baselines; and generate/update associated alteration and fleet documents including System Engineering Changes (EC), Ship Systems Manuals (SSM) and other system level documents.  The incumbent will identify schedule and technical risks as well as develop an alteration/installation schedule that includes Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and test events.  The incumbent will coordinate with personnel at NUWC and NAVSEA including presentation of technical briefs at senior level meetings such as Consolidated Program Reviews (CPR).

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
