T&E System Engineer

We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer to work within our team, helping to build out, maintain, and troubleshoot our AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System in Code 25.  He/she must be equipped and able to work as part of a highly skilled and multi-functional, multi-disciplined team in order to maintain program readiness as well as support various  teams in a dynamic and rapidly expanding environment. This person will serve as part of a talented team of engineers who collectively demonstrate excellent technical competence, reliability in delivering mission-critical infrastructure, and who continually ensure the highest levels of accessibility, optimization, and security.  The System Engineer opportunity provides unique exposure to multiple software and hardware baselines from legacy systems to state of the art Submarine Combat Control platforms. Qualified Systems Engineer applicants will have a strong background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.

As a derivative of this exposure, system engineers develop a well-rounded, advanced level of knowledge of systems administration, network administration, software and hardware troubleshooting, and process documentation.  The System Engineer performs all necessary test and evaluation, milestones, test events, platform builds for the submarine fleet, and high-visibility development builds for testing cutting edge systems.  The System Engineer position carries a high level of exposure, and commands focus, flexibility, and the desire to continuously learn from each its team members.   • Participation in SE and T&E milestones including TRR, SDCT, SDVR, DRR
  • Obtain SME level of knowledge on assigned Capability Items or areas
  • Review applicable test shift reports and contractor OQE
    Follow up on actions and issues
  • Liaison with contractor test personnel to coordinate and resolve T&E issues and events
  • Monitoring and verifying build status and content
  • Resolving and verifying PTR fixes
  • Contractor and government test events
  • Test execution, participation, witness, and oversight
  • To include off shift and potential weekend support
  • Conduct testing, perform analysis, and PTR reporting
  • Resolution of test program comments, issues, and activities
  • Review and update of test tools, including generation of test checklists and scenarios
  • Development of test procedures and scenarios
  • PTR V&V
  • Includes KIA analysis, impact assessment, V&V
  • Deployed Systems issue investigation
  • OAT system operability impact verification and assessment
  • Provide support to the following working groups as required:
  • System Note Working Group
  • Integration and Test Working Group
  • Participation in the following work groups:
    • System Note Working Group.
    • Integration and Test Working Group.
    • Test Procedure Review Board.
    • Other work groups as required.
  • Support the following activities as required
    • Plan of the Day.
    • Tactical Control Board (TCS) Library Change Request (LCR) Review Board (LRB).
    • Legacy Weapons Control System WCS Configuration Control Board (CCB).
  • Other duties as assigned.


Specific Job Requirements

  • Ability to manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
  • Continual maintenance of security, including backup and redundancy strategies.
  • Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems.
  • Excellence in communication as a liaison with contractor and government personnel to resolve issues.
  • Desire to work alongside the team to help design information and operational support systems.
  • Must possess an intimate understanding of security practices in relation to working with classified material, proper handling of classified material, need to know, Operational Security and Information Security.
  • Travel is optional based on opportunity.


Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Four (4) year Degree in Engineering or a closely related field (physics, Math, Operations Research, etc).
  • Level III in T&E can be accepted as a “closely related field”.
  • Four (4) years of experience in developmental or operational T&E of tactical US Naval vessels, weapons, software or systems.
  • Proven ability to successfully and efficiently monitor systems.
  • Travel requirement is 10%.

Department of Defense Secret security clearance or higher is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
